Description

Tilt-up construction is a method of precasting building envelopes that takes place at the job site.  Large concrete elements are crafted and lifted (erected) into position, commonly serving as the load-bearing perimeter structure for the building envelope.  Tilt-up as a building envelope is a simple configuration of a complex equation combining support, control and finish into one element with concrete as the primary building material.  Therefore, the inspection of these building envelopes can challenge the review team when not inherently familiar with the physical and performance aspects.  This presentation will deconstruct the tilt-up building envelope to understand the configuration of systems and parts and identify the common areas where inspection of new and existing building might reveal actual concern.
