The Franklin Institute was constructed in the 1930s with funds originally contributed by Ben himself. The construction was considered at the time to be state-of-the-art. It was a site where engineers toured to experience and learn the latest in building construction, utility distribution, and electrification/communication systems. Our tour will include the historic and post-2000 new construction. The FI exhibit curators will also be showing their collection of historic tools engineers used for inspection and measurement before all the digital equipment we now have at our disposal.
