Founder and president Robert Roop oversees all engineering investigations for Lockatong Engineering. A Professional Engineer, he is licensed in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New York, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Minnesota. His over four decades’ experience includes several years on professional engineering staffs at firms in the U.S. and overseas before establishing his firm in Stockton, New Jersey, in 2001.

Robert has personally conducted many hundreds of transition studies, reserve studies, property condition and environmental assessments on a wide variety of buildings, as well as many hundreds of residential and building inspections for construction defects, deterioration and faulty maintenance. He has performed comprehensive environmental investigations and remediation at former industrial sites to allow their use for residential and commercial development. Currently, Mr. Roop provides construction quality assessments on new construction and has worked as an expert in evaluating warranty claims for construction defects.

Robert earned his bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from Tufts University and his master’s in environmental engineering from Villanova University. He was among the first group of applicants to be board-certified by the Building Inspection Engineers Certification Institute (BIECI) under a NABIE initiative, which recognizes engineers “who, by reason of experience, competence and high ethical standards, perform building inspections and related functions at superior levels.”

He has conducted applied research and product development in water and wastewater disinfection and was responsible for the development of several advanced chemical feed and analytical instruments widely used in public water systems. As a result, Robert holds several United States patents in water disinfection equipment.
