Description

Professional Engineers with building construction and inspection experience play a critical role for Lenders of new construction and renovation projects.  As the Lender’s technical expert, the Consultant must identify risks to the process, liability, and issues that affect the Lender’s collateral.  Consulting for Lenders is specialized, requiring a detailed knowledge of lending practices, requirements, and expectations.  An overview of the Consultant’s role will be presented, including performing front-end document and cost analysis reviews as well as the construction loan monitoring process.  In national and local markets, experienced Professional Engineers are critical for performing site visits, reviewing payment requests, and reporting on construction progress.  This need presents partnering opportunities to deliver quality consulting services to Lender clients.  Case studies will be presented typifying the value Professional Engineers bring to commercial lending.
